Easy Cream Biscuits
12" Dutch Oven
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
3/4 to 1 cup heavy cream*
1/3 cup (2/3 cup) melted butter
Pre-warm Dutch oven. Place the flour with the baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large bowl. Slowly stir in only enough cream to form a soft dough. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured board, knead lightly, and roll out to 1/2” thick. Cut into biscuits, dip into melted butter on both sides, and place in the well-oiled Dutch oven. Set aside for 10-15 minutes to proof. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes until golden brown with 16 briquettes on top and 6 to 8 briquettes on bottom.
*If cream is less than 40% butter fat, add 1 to 2 tbsp of melted butter.
