IRISH SODA BREAD
1 ½ Cup flour
1 Tsp Baking Powder
½ Tsp Baking Soda
¼ Tsp salt
3 Tabs butter
1 Egg beaten
¾ Cup buttermilk
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together. Shift. Cut butter into flour mixture. Add the egg reserving 1 teaspoon of it for later use. Add buttermilk and stir till moist. Knead for 12 strokes, shape the dough into a ball and place in a 6” greased oven. Brush top of dough with the remaining egg. Cut a ¼” cross into the dough and bake at 375º for 35 minutes.
