Re: How many?

yes I have used the vinegar/water to clean rust .  It does work.  the main thing is not to use too much vinegar and leave the iron in it too long.  If something is really bad rusted, use more vinegar and leave it in longer.  You can also use straight Coke but it takes a lot longer(couple of days).

I will be doing another newsletter pretty soon and will ask for Dog ideals again in it.

Re: How many?

Um?  Well, ah...let's see.  Started with a 10 inch Lodge, then found three spiders in various sizes.  One of them didn't have a lid and I found one that fit in a local store sitting forlornly on a shelf.  Then a 12 in, another 10 inch, as 12 deep, an 8, a 14, a 5, then long stretch without a purchase, a Maca Buffalo, Camp Chef 12, Tex Sport 2qt deep, 20 incher from Gander Mountain, a 12 inch Mountain something from eBay,  5 inch Camp Chef, a Jambalaya pot from Congo Stove, then I found a #10 Griswold lid while on vacation in Texas.  Now several more 12's, a Griswold, still looking for a bottom for that lid.  I have gotten outbid on several on eBay.  My latest is a 10 deep I got from the Lodge outlet in Commerce, Ga.  Spendy, but I wanted one.  Then skillets, muffin pans, waffle irons, well, you know how it is.  Once you start buying this stuff...

I have never seasoned the 20 incher.  I am not sure that it would fit in any grill around and I don't like to smoke up the kitchen.  I really like the looks of those big Maca's, but have refrained from hitting "add to cart" on their website.  Is there a twelve step group for us?

A new one added to the herd

I had to go to a local hardware store today.  They were having their annual bag sale.  Everything you can fit into a shopping bag is 20% off.  Every year I have looked at the 16 inch and resisted.  Today I did not resist.  It was already over $35 cheaper than online.  I got it for $83 and proud of it.  Mind you, I have a broken arm and the is no telling how long it will be before I can lift it.  And, they didn't make me fit it in the bag.  I think it would have gone in there...well maybe.  Another big one to season, lol.

My previous years of resisting made me miss the old style shallower one they had.  Someone got it several years ago.

Re: How many?

Now that's what I am talking about!  You are infected with castironitis bad.  (Glad I am not the only one).  I have 3 of the 10 deeps and they are my favorite ovens.  they are perfect for deserts.  I have a 20" from cabelas that  I carried to my church and used the commerical oven to season mine.  since I fix cobblers in it for Potlucks, they did not mind a little smoke at church.Ha!  And believe me a 20 holds a lot of cobbler.  We had Phylis Spears cooked with the Redneck Gourments last year at an event to raise money for a scholarship and she brought her big Maca.  It is the biggest that they make.  she could not even lift the lid.  We had to assign her a "lift boy" just to lift the lid for her.  Don't think I need one that big.  How in the world does anyone find 3 spiders?  I found my first this summer after looking for years and you have 3...life is not fair!
