Castironitis

I thought we might get a discussion about the dreaded disease of castironitis  started.  I have sent in a picture of my bad case and it is in the pictures tab.  Wanna compare symptoms?

There is a new survey on the home page also.  It will be interesting to see what everyone uses for a heat source when cooking with their pots.  Cooking in my pots is a good excuse for the above mentioned castironitis.

Re: Castironitis

Castironitis is some bad stuff.  I don't believe there will ever be a cure for it.  I have heard that there is a 12 step program that has helped some people for a little while. LOL! I can't go by a junk store without stopping and looking for my 2 vices, cast iron and cookbooks.  My current total is 54 pieces of cast iron.  I believe you have me on legged ovens, I think I only have 16legged ones.  I have now managed to pick up 4 spyder.  Got a bunch of flat bottomed ovens to a point I ususally pass on them unless they are really old.  Still looking for the "Holy Grail" of dutch ovens, the Lodge 5" maybe someday .

BTW, My cookbook collection is nearing 200.

Doug

Re: Castironitis

Hi!  Castironitis!  Yep I have to admit I have it bad.  I just found the site and sad that I missed the gathering last weekend.  I am in NW Arkansas, transplant from the So Cal DO Society.  Hello everyone!
