New Dutch Oven...Castironitis Fix

Hi to all.  Since there hasn't been much going on here lately, I thought I would share with the group my latest fix.  I purchased a 14 inch DO from Texas.  Has a Texas star right in the middle of the lid.  It comes from Floresville, TX.  A guy named Jack Rice has a small foundry there and as a sideline has made some neat iron items for us diseased folks.  Have a look at www.texaloy.com.  Sheesh, that is small, hope the link works.  Click on the small grill near the bottom of the page.

The DO came packed well enough to survive the worst torture the USPS could subject it to.  It appeared to have been put in a plastic bag and then the box was filled with that expanding foam.  Hubby had to break it out for me because of my bad arm.  It is also preseasoned.  It did come UPS though.  They do these in small batches, so you have to order them ahead.  Nice folks.  I also succumbed to the Texas Star Grill.

Now you can go drool.   Heh, heh, heh.

Re: New Dutch Oven...Castironitis Fix
Yea I keep saying that's it.  I'm not going to buy anything else, but I'v add a Lodge sportman's grill.  And miss hot pots(from kastiron Kooker Mississippi)  showed up at the Mammoth Springs Cookoff with a bunch of the new 1 qt lodge DO's.  So I just could't keep my hand off it. So this week no spending money.

Re: New Dutch Oven...Castironitis Fix

I got my Lodge 6" from Melissa the first part of Feb and have already used it a couple of times.  Also just picked up another 10" spider at a local junk store.  It does not have a lid but it is in pretty good condition.  When you find a spider you have to buy them whether they have a lid or not.  (it's a law!  really!)HA!  This now gives me 3 10" spiders, 2 with lids.  This castironitis is tough to get over. Now I am going to have to look into the the Texas oven.

Doug
