Hey Doug, it was great seeing y'all again! We got home about noon today (Sunday). I'm telling ya, that heat was hard on these old bodies but the granddaughters are good to go again today. They're already planning on next year. We're mighty proud of them, Savannah (15) took 3rd in bread and 3rd place in main. Her little sister, Emily (9) took 2nd in bread. They're going home to Texas Friday to practice some more for next year. Savannah didn't have much help at all...she did learn how "warm" water should be for yeast something I guess I failed to teach her. She won't forget though, the first batch she killed deader than a door nail. Emily did good for a 9 year old and I expect she will need a team again next year.
Are the Hot Coals guys around on this forum or can we get contact information? It was so hot both my daughter and I failed to ask them where they get the quality boudain. My kids (and me) spent years in SE Texas and we acquired a taste for the stuff. Anything we can get here is yuck. Kids still live near Houston. That is better than what we get here but still not the real cajun stuff.
