Gold Mine of Dutch Oven Events

Thanks to Glynda Pryor for pointing me to the AR State Parks website.  The following link will take you to a list of Dutch Oven Events at State Parks all over the state.  There are three this weekend alone.  I haven't figured out how to get all of these posted to the site so I thought I would tell everyone here for the time being.  Maybe everyone already knows about these events, but I was stunned by the sheer number and locations.

Hopefully that is a clickable link.

Re: Gold Mine of Dutch Oven Events

Not sure I know how to post a reply yet.  I'm rather amazed at the number of events held in the State Parks.  My husband got involved in organizing Dutch Oven Cook-offs quite by accident.  At present we have 2 such events.  The first is April 18, 2009 at the Washington County Historical Society in Fayetteville.  The second is for the Cane Hill Harvest Festival September 19-20, 2009.  Both of these events are competitions and we need contestants. We are thinking of organizing some classes which will hopefully give us more cooks for our competitions.  I'll post more information as the time gets closer.  I would like to  hear from anyone who would be interested in cooking in NW Arkansas.  We often get requests to cook for different events which are not competitions.  We are usually paid for these and divide the money equally among the cooks.

One other question, we would like to join the ADOS.  Has a treasurer been elected yet so that we can send in our registration fee?

Re: Gold Mine of Dutch Oven Events

There is a list of events on my website compiled by Ken Jones (Oklahoma).  I talked to him yesterday and he said anyone is welcome to use his information so you might want to check it out.  http://www.ozarkmountainmemories.com and look on the calendar page.
