Thank you for stopping by the Arkansas Dutch Oven Society website.  The Arkansas Dutch Oven Society charter states that our purpose is to further the knowledge and heritage of Dutch oven cooking.  We do this by Dutch Oven Gatherings (DOGS), historic reenactments, and demonstrations.  We encourage you to join our group and take part in our activities and forum discussions.  It is our goal to promote the art of Dutch oven cooking in Arkansas and beyond.  If you know of any events in which Dutch oven cooking is featured, please let us know so that we can post it to the site and help get the word out about it.  It does not have to be a "cook-off", just aything connected with the "black pots."  Arkansas Dutch Oven Society has members all across the state of Arkansas and many of the surrounding states that are always looking for a DOG (Dutch Oven Gathering).

I do believe that Arkansas forgot about spring and went straight to summer this year. But warm weather brings out black pots  like bees to honey.  If you have not taken your Dutch ovens out yet ....well it's time you did!  I don't need to remind you that if you can cook it in the house, you can cook it outside in a Dutch oven. I proved that again in  February when I cooked a cheesecake in my Dutch oven while camping at the deer camp in the snow.  It may have been the prettiest one that I have cooked yet.
Folks I cannot stress enough to use this website.  several of us check it each day and will try to answer any questions or comments that you might have.
The next Dutch oven event that I know of is the Elk Festival in Jasper on the 27Th.  This is one of the oldest  and best Dutch oven cook off in Arkansas.  It is always a good time to be had for all.  If you get a chance to go to Jasper on the 27Th, look me up. I will be at the tent that the most noise is coming from.  My cooking partners, Deno and Higgi always seem to have some comment to make when one of us goofs up , (which is quite often) of course I never say anything.LOL!.  It has been said that if they gave an award for the most fun; they could name it after The Redneck Gourmets!  But that is the reason that we cook ...to have fun and meet people. We have never been anywhere cooking that we did not have fun or met some great folks.
We would love to meet you , so ya'll come see us !
